A bizarre and rambling resignation speech from Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. Readers will know that I have been a fan of her since she hit the national stage last August. But her resignation speech yesterday really was weak. It was as if it had been written (it had been written, right?) by Tina Fey.
The excellent Toby Harnden hits the nail on the head, as ever. Palin's resignation statement was rather akin the Nixon's after he lost the race in California in 1962 (as acted here by Anthony Hopkins):

More then meets the eye here, and she isn't saying.

Following the surprise Palin announcement, website supporters are gathering across the nation to support Sarah Palin for President in 2012 can be found online at www.palin4pres2012.com
Our the website is in danger of crashing due to the flood of readers and supporters signing up to show their interest in a Palin Candidacy. The GOP establishment had better watch out, Sarah Palin and Ron Paul combined with the power of the internet will remove the stranglehold of GOP special interests and the elites who have brought the party to its knees in defeat in the 2008 elections.
I desperately hope she has a more professional team around her than from that website.
Well I'm going out there to help her out. YBF mission I reckon...
I'll go out there to help her...a YBF mission methinks.
That is an independant Grass Roots group, who say they did not know of her decision to drop out . Yet they claim she and Ron Paul will be a great team in 2012.With Palin being another Reagan.
( Something to that effect )
Well, If this is all they can come up with , then it will no doubt be another failure in 2012 me thinks.
Back to the drawing boards ...as time goes by way too fast~ :)

"The GOP establishment had better watch out, Sarah Palin and Ron Paul combined with the power of the internet will".....
frighten the horses and so give Barack Obama a second term. Yeah, fantastic.
She should have finished her term though. She leaves herself open to be called, "a quitter." I believe honorable people complete the job they were elected to do. With this decision, she appears to care more about her own star than she cares about her constituents, unfortunately. She has a very tough road ahead and a lot of convincing to do. This sudden move will garner some short-lived attention, but in the long run she has damaged her credibility and reliability. I can just see it, "Vote for Palin! She'll quit before the job is done!"
This is one of those peculiar political events which are difficult to explain. It reminds me very much of John McCain's decision to nominate her as VP. Everyone said at the time that it could be a disaster or a masterstroke and I feel the same way about this. Her period as McCain's running mate turned out to be a disaster but this latest episode might turn out better.
Everyone knows that she has been Governor of Alaska and if all she now cares about is being president, the governorship has probably served its purpose for her. She has a record which conservatives would like during the primaries so why continue with the possibility of tainting it. Leaving the governorship now will also enable her to reinvent herself as a national media figure before 2012.
Although her record as governor of Alaska played well in many quarters, her Alaskan identity exposed her to a lot of ridicule. This move by her may be the best of both worlds. She keeps her record as governor but also gets the opportunity to soften her regional identity.
