Children have been asked what kind of alcohol they drink, whether they have had penetrative sex and if they know where to obtain condoms or the “morning after pill”. The local vicar, Tony Macey, has expressed disquiet on behalf of his flock in the unfortunately named parish of Cockington.
The Lib Dem council defends the taxpayer-funded consultation exercise as being an attempt by the local authority to gain a better understanding of children’s views on drugs, alcohol, sex and relationships. Needless to say the Lib Dem councilor responsible for children’s issues – Cllr Loretta McHugh – is hiding behind the council’s official spokesman, rather than facing the music herself.

Those who wish to make their views known to Cllr McHugh can contact her at 20 Shiphay Avenue, Torquay TQ2 7EA or on her mobile on (07818) 011441. Her email address is cllr.l.mchugh@torbay.gov.uk.
Torbay has a directly-elected Conservative mayor, Nick Bye. He too needs to show leadership so as to rein in some of his nuttier cabinet colleagues.
Millions of people vote for Lib Dem local councillors in the belief that they are moderate voices of reason. The seedy questionnaire distributed by this Lib Dem council shows the third party of British politics (who might perhaps be better described as the “third rate” party of British politics) for being the woolly-minded, Nanny-statists we all suspect them to be.

Donal, I have just sent this email to Cllr McHugh :
Dear Cllr McHugh,
I am doing a sex survey to gain a better understanding of Torbay coucillors’ views on drugs, alcohol, sex and relationships.
Could you therefore let me know what kind(s) of alcohol you drink, whether YOU have had penetrative sex, and if you know where to obtain condoms.
You will consider this an impertinence on my part. I agree. Equal to the impertinence of your council's questions to 12 year olds in Torbay.
If I lived in Torbay and found you questioning my 12 year old in this manner I would come and sock you on the nose, figuratively speaking.
Local Councils are there to arrange street lighting and collect the refuse. I suggest that your campaign of questions of 12 year olds should be deposited in the latter.

I can't take any more of this. I am going to the pub. I will phone her.
